School Mission

Beliefs
  • We adhere to the Christian faith and believe that human beings are made in the image of God, possessing the noble, free, creative, empathetic, and self-transcendent qualities of life. The enduring values in human culture are the manifestations of these qualities. We firmly believe that education is the work of shaping lives and nurturing the values of the humanities. The word "education" derives from the Latin word "educare," which means to orient, lead, or draw out. In other words, the work of education is to guide students in discerning their direction in a complex cultural world, leading them to recognize the excellent values within a culture, and drawing out their potential.
Aspirations
  • Our aspiration is to practice education rooted in the Christian faith, thereby establishing the dignity and freedom of individuals, nurturing their creativity, and fostering a love for others. Our goal is the molding and nurturing of lives, transforming our students into individuals who respect themselves and others, take on responsibilities, pursue progress actively, have a thirst for knowledge, and possess compassion and dreams. At the same time, we firmly believe in the equality of all individuals before the Creator, recognizing that each person possesses unique potential bestowed by God.

Goals
  • 1. Establish a rigorous campus culture

Ideal: Establishing a school is essentially constructing a culture. From the order inside and outside the classroom to learning attitudes, from participation in games to the establishment of teamwork spirit, from debate competitions to independent thinking, from participating in music or drama performances to a love for artistic creation, everything that comes alive within the school will invisibly internalize certain values in the students' lives. A rigorous campus culture nurtures a rigorous character. Accepting mediocrity and being afraid to set strict requirements for students will only bury their potential.

  • 2. Return to the solid foundation of education

Ideal: Develop a competency-based curriculum, with a special emphasis on training language proficiency and mathematical thinking abilities. Language is the expression of life, as philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein pointed out, language not only confines a person's thoughts but is fundamentally an expression of their way of life. Accurate thinking training is also fundamental to education. In the primary and secondary school stages, mathematics is an effective pathway for training accurate thinking. Therefore, mathematics should receive equal importance as language education, both being core subjects.

  • 3. Inspire vision and ambition, establish clear life and career goals

Ideal: Some teenagers lack intrinsic motivation and struggle with a lack of ideals and a sense of direction, resulting in identity confusion. As their companions in life, schools should inspire their thoughts and help them establish life and career ideals. Schools should encourage them to develop specific interests and dedicate themselves to them. We will do everything possible to ignite in students the courage to have visions and aspirations. We hope that the school can become a nursery for nurturing future scientists, writers, engineers, artists, and business managers in Hong Kong.

  • 4. Train independent thinking and creative thinking

Ideal: Establish a school that cultivates critical thinking and individuality. In the face of the rapidly expanding knowledge, complex information, diverse values, and rapid changes of the millennium, students need to acquire the ability to think independently, analyze, critique, integrate information, and think creatively. This will enable them to courageously pursue true knowledge, reject mere replication, and shoulder their personal mission and responsibility towards themselves, their families, society, and the nation. It is through this endeavor that new territories for knowledge and truth can be opened.

  • 5. Broaden international perspectives

Ideal: Hong Kong is an international metropolis, and its strength lies in its international connections and information technology network. To maintain such an advantage, we must establish a foundation for students from an early age in the history, geography, cultural philosophy, politics, and economic knowledge of both the East and the West. This will broaden individuals' international perspectives and horizons and foster a desire for communication and exchange.

  • 6. Establish a campus culture that pursues cultural qualities

Ideal: We want to broaden students' horizons and enable them to see the vastness of creativity, history, the world, the universe, and the diverse aspects of life. This will ignite their multifaceted intellectual talents. At the same time, excellent education must inspire students to reflect on moral values and pursue and embody a fulfilling life. We will cultivate in students a belief in the dignity of each individual, independence, mutual responsibility, and the selflessness of Christ, based on Christian principles. This will foster in students a sense of self-respect, respect for others, independent thinking with a sense of responsibility, and a sense of belonging and responsibility towards their country and nation.
