Shared Reading Lesson Demonstration

Shared Reading Lesson Demonstration

We were happy to open the school to parents of students in J.1 and J.2 to observe how a Fun English lesson is conducted. The occasion was a particularly happy one as the Parents’ Observation lesson had not been held for the previous two years due to Covid-19, so we were delighted to host the event once again.

The lesson was taught to twenty-four J.2 students. Mr Daniel conducted lesson with the assistance of Ms. Yip. The lesson was structured around the book ‘Fair Shares’, and the activities aimed to build students' confidence in spoken English through a drama performance.

Firstly, the students welcomed the parents to our school. The lesson began with the day's date and the weather followed by the students singing a song together. Next, the students practised some phonics and completed an activity focused on the ‘ch’ sound. After that, the students learnt some new key vocabulary items from the storybook. Mr. Daniel then read the story aloud and assigned parts to students for Readers’ Theatre. Students rehearsed in groups of four. After the rehearsal, four students were selected to perform in front of the parents.

After the class, parents completed questionnaires and spoke with the presenting teachers after the class. The feedback was very good. We hope parents felt reassured that their children were learning well and enjoying their English education.
